Actress and human rights campaigner Emma Thompson was the special guest at the gala dinner for the People’s PostCode Lottery in Edinburgh.
Ms Thompson, who is an ambassador for ActionAid, spoke about the need to tackle human trafficking and the exploitation of some of the most disadvantaged women in the world.
She is also an international goodwill ambassador for the United Postcode Lotteries.
Also in attendance was the former British athlete Kelly Holmes, while Ms Thompson joined Heather Small on stage for a performance of some of the M People’s 1990s hits.
The audience of 300 at the Botanics heard that the People’s Postcode Lottery is now the world’s third largest donor to charity.
The company, which employs 300 staff in Edinburgh, has licences for the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Sweden and is soon to launch in Norway.
