A delicious menu of comic mini-dramas

Big Bite-Size Breakfast Show (rating 5/5)

A small company performs a series of five ten-minute comedies selected from three menus on different days, each one accompanied by free coffee, croissants and strawberries.

Bite-Size Breakfast is a delicious highlight of the Fringe for the 12th year and features new and well-crafted writing that is fast-paced and as thought-provoking as it is funny.

Today’s menu served up a scene in an adult sandpit, a time-travelling couple with a sinister twist, a WI committee pursuing desperate measures for new members, life as a goldfish, and a couple coping with a family tragedy.

Each story offers a statement on human emotions and values wrapped up in tragi-comedy at its best, part satire, part sit-com.

The cast is made up of young actors who are fast gaining credits on stage and screen including Claira Watson Parr (Bridget Jones’ Baby and ITV’s The Great Fire), while Fringe visitors last year may have caught Imogen Miller Porter playing Sybil in Faulty Towers the Dining Experience.

This is simply a great way to start the day. Highly recommended.

Pleasance Dome, featuring three menus on various dates until 27 August
