Review: The Storm (rating 5/5)
This is a mesmerising, fast-paced and intensely engaging routine that blows into the dance studio and infects the senses of the audience.
The rhythmic and swirling electro-rock music is translated into a physical expression of mental torment by the seven dancers.
A specially-commissioned score by Amarok, which has a feel of Pink Floyd meets King Crimson, creates an energy that perfectly captures the turbulence of the storm.
Soloists Norikazu Aoki and Sarah Jane Taylor lead the dancers through acrobatic movements to make this a thrilling experience. Their grace and agility is exceptional and Taylor’s line is intense and deeply expressive.
James Wilton, dancer and choreographer, is on stage with the performers through this explosive production with a precise interpretation of an actual storm before a beautiful calm descends.
This is a treat for dance fans.
